~ Central Oregon ~

Central Oregon has numerous lakes, reservoirs and holds the
headwaters of the Deschutes River. Great still-water fishing can
be found to the south of Bend Oregon on Crane Prairie, East
Lake, Wickiup Reservoir and Davis Lake.
The Deschutes is divided into the “Upper” and "Lower” River. The
Lower Deschutes is world renowned and offers world-class fishing
for native Red-side Rainbow Trout and Summer-run Steelhead.
Maupin Oregon is considered the central hub for the Lower
Deschutes.
The Rainbow fishing kicks off in late May with a prolific
stonefly hatch and keeps pace throughout the summer. Summer-Run
Steelhead begin to show in early August and are in the river
system until early spring. The Deschutes’ Summer-run Steelhead
find waking dry flies irresistible. For those who can brave the
cold, swinging flies and nymphing are the primary means of
taking fish during the winter months. This is a “one of a kind”
fishery that can’t be missed.
