~ 2010 Kwethluk Float Trips ~

Call 1-866-846-4240 or email us to arrange your trip today.

  This is one of Alaska’s most remote float trips available that offers great fishing for Grayling, Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Kings and Silvers. While floating the river you’ll swear that you have stepped back in time. There are no lodges, fish camps or villages along the way. Once your trip is underway you will experience true Alaska solitude.

The Kwethluk is located in South-West Alaska and is a clear water tributary to the Kuskokwim River. Moderate flows and a gravel bottom create a very fisherman friendly river. The float is approximately 95 miles long and takes about 8 days to float. The Kwethluk River trip begins with a DeHavilland Beaver flight from Bethel, Alaska to Boundary Lake which is approximately 100 miles east. A short portage from Boundary Lake over to the river is the first and only hurdle on this float. The first 25 miles of the river offers great fishing for Dolly Varden, Grayling and some Rainbow. As you continue down stream the river transforms into a network of side channels, eddies, holes and salmon spawning beds that offer excellent fishing for Rainbow Trout, Kings, Chum and Silver Salmon.

These trips are primarily catch and release since there is no way to freeze the fish during the trip. We will keep some fish to eat along the way and a daily limit may be kept on the last day of the trip. All meals are camp style and served on the banks of the river. We supply a 4-person tent for every 2 anglers. We will have 1 guide for every 2 clients and an additional gear boat that will go ahead of the clients to setup camp and start dinner each day.

Kings are the first of the Salmon species to enter the river in late June. They are soon followed up by Chum and Sockeye Salmon. During the first weeks of August Silver salmon begin surging up river on their journey to spawn. Float trips are available from the first week in July all the way through mid-September.

We offer a 10-day \ 11-night trip. This trip includes 8 days on the river floating and fishing. Clients arrive in Bethel on the afternoon the day before the float trip begins and stay in a bed and breakfast that night. On the next morning guides and clients load up and fly out to Boundary Lake. We float and fish for 8 full days. On the evening of the 8th day of fishing we arrive at our pick up location and spend the night there. Clients and equipment are picked up by boat and taken back to Bethel. Clients stay in the bed and breakfast for one more night and depart Bethel in the morning. The rates for this trip vary on the size of the group;

1 or 2 clients is $4,000 per person

3 or 4 clients is $3750 per person

5 or 6 clients is $3,500 per person
